El proyecto Seat Assignment comenzó espontáneamente en 2010 en un vuelo doméstico corto y actualmente sigue en curso, incluyendo cientos de fotografías. Las imágenes resultantes se dividen en tres géneros históricos: naturaleza muerta, retrato y paisaje. Seat Assignment también refleja la ansiedad por los accidentes aéreos, el terrorismo y la racialización. La obra de Katchadourian ha sido expuesta en el Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego y en el Cantor Center for Visual Arts de la Universidad de Stanford, entre otros.
