Artista: Maurice Scheltens and Liesbeth Abbenes

Apeldoorn (The Netherlands), 1972 and Asten (The Netherlands), 1970. Scheltens and Abbenes became established as a professional duo after collaborating on various projects. With Scheltens’ expertise as a photographer and Abbenes’ artistic abilities they produce clean and technically impeccable images. With a special predilection for still-lifes produced with everyday objects such as chairs, glasses, T-shirts and perfume containers, they create settings and compositions that draw on the aesthetics of Russian constructivism and the avant-gardes of the 1920s, with an evident tendency to geometricize and a markedly cold and severe yet also elegant line.
