Artista: Fredericke van Lawick and Hans Müller

Deggingen (Germany), 1958 and Mengen (Germany), 1954. LawickMüller began to work together in 1990 and a fusion of photography and digital processes became their main expressive media. Their investigations focus on the complexity of identity, as their series PERFECTLYsuperNATURAL exemplifies. Based on classical Greco-Roman sculpture, they have created diverse portraits in which they combine faces of statues with those of a real people. The images can be distinguished from one another by the subtle differences in each person’s facial features, yet the archetypical beauty of the sculptures surfaces in each and every one of the portraits, thus generating images of great beauty that also demonstrate remarkable homogeneity. www.lawickmueller.de
