Fox Chase, Pennsylvania (United States), 1939. This multidisciplinary artist has transformed the very definition of art through the development of her differing creative outlets. Early on, she essentially worked with kinetic sculptures and electronic systems. It is from the 1970s on that she began to produce performance art and convert her body into the territory of art. Sexuality and gender, physical as well as conceptual transgression, regarding the body in addition to art forms, are present throughout her career. She has exhibited at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New Museum and MoMA, all in New York; Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; and in 2002 at the Centro Cultural del Conde Duque, Madrid.
