The contemporary art scene in Mexico offers a diverse and complex landscape; focused almost entirely on Mexico City, formerly Federal District, it is of a richness and variety that is difficult to comprehend in just one country. In this issue we take a fragmented approach to the history, artists, structure, fashion and trends, painting, photography and creations made in Mexico; taking in all of its artists, both native and from other places, because here everyone who lives in Mexico is Mexican. Indeed we encounter a multiple art form where history, memory, the today and the future are present in every piece of art. We also analyse the presence of young Mexican art at an international level which has awoken interest all around the world. In this number, we have invited Mexican writers, theorists and teachers to tell us their story and introduce us to the art made in Mexico today.
